This week’s mystery country is really more of a city-state than a country, an emirate to be exact, which is a political entity ruled by an emir. It’s united with six neighboring emirates to form a larger unit, which is probably more correctly called a country. However, the clues below all point to a single emirate and that’s the answer we’re looking for.

 CLUE #1

We’ll give you two clues in one here, because we like you. Below are two iconic buildings located in our mystery emirate. Below is the tallest building in the world (and a very tall hostess!) The building is 2,717 feet high with 163 stories. An observation deck on the 124th floor is open to the public. You can buy an apartment in the building for around $1,000/square foot. The building is part of a development which includes the largest shopping mall in the world and the world’s largest dancing water fountain. This place likes to be #1.

The sail-shaped building below houses one of the world’s most luxurious hotels. It’s built on a man-made island and is only accessible by the secure bridge or the helipad up top. 

CLUE #2

Traditional wind tower houses like the one pictured below are scattered around the old town of our mystery emirate. The towers cool the houses by drawing wind down and across pools of water standing within.

 CLUE #3

Our mystery emirate is one of the world’s top shopping destinations. The gold market in the old town area is famous far and wide.
