NAME THAT COUNTRY Episode 20

All the clues in this post refer to one Ya’lla Tours destination: Bahrain, Cuba, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Turkey, or United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi and Dubai).

We’ll show you images of popular tourist sites in our mystery country, along with descriptions of those sites. This time, our subject is not technically a country but more of a city-state

See the bottom of the post for the answer.

CLUE #1

This mystery country is located on the southeastern edge of the vast Arabian Desert and the desert within a desert, the Empty Quarter, which is one of the largest continuous sand deserts in the world. This is the quintessential desert – a sea of rolling, shifting dunes, some over 800 feet high. It stands to reason that a visit to this country would include some desert recreation. Dune bashing, pictured below, is a popular activity, which involves riding up and down giant dunes at thrilling speeds, with professional drivers behind the wheel

CLUE #2

Our mystery country is blessed with miles and miles of pristine, powdery-white sand beaches.

CLUE #3

Pictured below, the Emirates Palace Hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Note the gold ATM!
